Thato Immaculate Mthombeni has announced her separation from her husband, Brendon ‘Gash1’ Mthombeni, in a statement shared on X.
The couple met on Big Brother Mzansi Season 3 and later got married in 2022.
In her statement, Thato said,
“I would like to address something personal and important. After three years of marriage, Gashwan Brandon Mthombeni and I are no longer together.”
She explained that her decision follows recent events, “Following incidents that happened the past few days that are irreconcilable by my standards and values, I have made the decision to walk away.”
Thato confirmed that both families have been involved in discussions and that she remains firm in her decision. She added that she will not be sharing further details:
“Out of respect for our families and for the sake of my son, I will not be going into further details.”
She also asked for privacy and for the situation not to be turned into conflict,
“I respectfully ask that this does not turn into a Thato vs Gash1 battle.”
Reflecting on the relationship, she said:
“We met, fell in love, tried building a family to the best of our abilities. For me I am heartbroken but I need to soldier on and continue working.”
She reaffirmed her stance on her personal values, “I will not betray myself, I never have and I am not going to start now.”
Thato confirmed that this will be her final comment on the matter, “This is my final statement on the matter. I will not be commenting further, as he remains the father of my child.”
The announcement comes shortly after her recent departure from Metro FM, where she had been working for two years.
She concluded by thanking her supporters and sharing her focus going forward,
“Moving forward, it will just be me and my baby, and I am fully focused on building a healthy, happy future for us.”
