MacG has finally apologised to Minnie Dlamini after facing major backlash for making disrespectful comments about her on his show, Podcast and Chill. However, Minnie says the apology came too late — and she’s not done with the matter just yet.
What happened?
In a recent episode of his podcast, MacGyver “MacG” Mukwevho made crude comments about Minnie Dlamini’s personal life, suggesting in a disrespectful manner that she couldn’t “keep a man.” The comments were made during a discussion about her past relationship with plastic surgeon Dr Brian Monaisa.
The comments sparked outrage, with many people, including fans, women’s organisations, and public figures, condemning MacG for being disrespectful and using his platform to degrade women.
MacG says sorry
On Monday, 13 May 2025, MacG used his podcast to publicly apologise. He explained that his intention was never to offend anyone and admitted that his comments may have hurt many listeners, especially women.
“I want to apologise, first and foremost, to all the female chillers and women in general in SA that I might have offended with that comment,” MacG said. “That was not the intention. We never say things to offend people. I want to extend an invite to Minnie Dlamini to the show. You are more than welcome to come. This thing started on the podcast, let’s end it on the podcast. She said some things, I said some things. Let’s squash it once and for all.”
Minnie responds
The following day, Minnie Dlamini released a statement through her legal team, making it clear that her response was not just about her personal feelings being hurt but about how women are treated in the media.
“I have watched in disbelief and deep pain as my name, body, and dignity were dragged through the mud,” Minnie said. She stressed that she had never insulted MacG but had only defended the dignity of a fellow woman in the industry when she became a target.
“This is not about ego. This is about systemic misogyny,” Minnie added. She pointed out how common it is for women in the entertainment industry to face disrespect and humiliation, often in the name of “content.”
Minnie confirmed that she had received an apology through MacG’s legal team, but she was not satisfied with the timing or the nature of the apology.
“Words without genuine accountability are hollow,” she said. “I will continue to pursue legal recourse. As a public figure and a mother, I must act not only for myself but for every woman whose dignity is violated in the name of content and entertainment.”
