Members of the Limpopo Provincial Flying Squad, working alongside Tracker Connect and Nare Anti-Poaching Security, have arrested three foreign nationals linked to several theft cases across the province. The suspects, aged between 29 and 35, were taken into custody following a coordinated operation that began on Sunday evening and continued into Monday morning.
Police were alerted about a grey Toyota Etios believed to have been used in multiple crimes, including burglary, cable theft, and the theft of solar batteries in the Mogwadi policing area near Senwabarwana. The same vehicle was also reportedly involved in recent cable theft incidents in the Polokwane and Groblersdal areas.
After intercepting the vehicle, officers discovered it was fitted with false registration plates, and the Vehicle Identification Number had been tampered with. This confirmed that the car was stolen. All three suspects were arrested on the scene and linked to the reported crimes.
In addition to the theft-related charges, the suspects now face charges of possession of a suspected stolen vehicle and contravention of the Immigration Act, as investigations revealed they are in South Africa illegally. The suspects are expected to appear in their respective Magistrate’s Courts soon.
Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, praised the team for their swift coordination and commitment to fighting crime in the province.
