The hit drama series Shaka iLembe has been officially renewed for a second season by MultiChoice. The historical series, which tells the story of the legendary African king Shaka Zulu, has captured the hearts of viewers across Africa, breaking records with over 3.5 million viewers on DStv in South Africa. It has also topped the DStv app charts in countries like Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, and beyond, making it the most-watched drama series in the MultiChoice drama catalogue.

Season 1 of Shaka iLembe was widely praised for its breathtaking visuals, powerful performances, and historical accuracy. It followed the rise of Shaka, played by Lemogang Tsipa, as he battles adversity to claim the Zulu throne. The season ended with Shaka’s victorious return, setting the stage for his reign.

Season 2 will continue the story, focusing on Shaka’s long-anticipated reign as king, and the challenges and triumphs he faces as he writes his name into history.

Produced by Bomb Productions, Shaka iLembe introduced viewers to a range of powerful characters, including Queen Nandi (Nomzamo Mbatha), young Prince Shaka (Ntando Zondi), Princess Mkabayi (Dawn Thandeka King), and Zwide (Wiseman Mncube). Season 1 explored themes of love, war, betrayal, sacrifice, and triumph, all set against the backdrop of the Nguni Kingdoms.
