Barely a year after leaving Capricorn FM, Given Mabunda was crowned the winner of Munghana Lonene FM’s Nghwazi ya Mpfanganyiso talent search.Mabunda, 26, was announced as the winner on Saturday after an extensive search. The announcement was made by the station’s programs manager at SABC Studios in Polokwane and in a twist of events, runner up Hope Lebese was announced as the station’s new voiceover artist.
Mabunda, from the village of ka Dzumeri in Nongoma, north of Limpopo, started his broadcasting career at the age of 15 at Tshwane FM hosting a show called RockaFella. From the RockerFella he moved to Tshwane FM’s breakfast show and the afternoon drive. While with the afternoon show, he was nominated best presenter and show at the Liberty Radio Awards.
He got an opportunity to sit-in on Capricorn FM in 2017 and Capricorn FM’s flagship CTM Urban Top 40 till he parted ways with the station. Mabunda holds a national diploma in logistics and an advanced diploma in supply chain management from the Tshwane University of Technology.
