Nickelodeon Africa is making history with the launch of its first-ever locally produced music show, NickMusic, hosted by Lerai Rakoditsoe. This exciting new show will premiere exclusively on NickToons and promises to be a fun, family-friendly music experience that both parents and kids can enjoy together after school.
NickMusic : A local first for African kids’ Television
NickMusic is a vibrant and engaging 30-minute music show that will feature a mix of local African tunes as well as international hits. The show is designed to bring families together, creating an upbeat environment for kids and their parents to enjoy the latest hits from both African artists and global stars.
The show will be hosted by the talented Lerai Rakoditsoe. As part of Nickelodeon Africa’s Culture Squad, a team of creative visionaries, Lerai is making history as the first African host to feature on the channel. NickMusic marks a milestone in her career, as she becomes the face of the show on Nickelodeon Africa.
Lerai Rakoditsoe : A rising star and role model
Lerai’s passion for youth culture, African music, and female empowerment makes her the perfect host for NickMusic. She is a strong advocate for African youth and is dedicated to promoting positive change and representation. Having grown up watching Nickelodeon, Lerai understands the importance of authentic representation on-screen for young viewers.
Lerai shared her excitement about joining the Nickelodeon family, “I am excited to be part of the Nickelodeon Africa family and to be the first young African host for the channel. Having grown up watching the channel myself, I know how important it is for young minds to see someone like themselves on screen. Authentic representation is really important and to see myself on the channel is mind-blowing. I’m extremely grateful and looking forward to interacting with viewers across Africa and to show off some of my NickMusic moves.”
In addition to her role as a host, Lerai is an influential figure in youth empowerment. She is currently the Executive of Girl Up Johannesburg, a club under the global Girl Up initiative hosted by the United Nations Foundation, which focuses on leadership development for young girls.

The locally produced NickMusic show will air Monday to Thursday, featuring a mix of African and international music hits that will get kids and parents dancing. The show will be broadcast at 16:25 CAT / 15:25 WAT, starting from 17 May 2021, only on NickToons (DStv Channel 308).
