A leading brand in South Africa
Founded in 2015 by Theo Baloyi, Bathu has become a leading name in the South African footwear industry. The brand is known for empowering individuals to “Walk Their Journey,” offering stylish sneakers that celebrate African talent and creativity. Bathu’s international expansion is about more than just growing the business—it’s also about showcasing the innovation and craftsmanship that is thriving in Africa.

Prime location
Maerua Mall, located in the heart of Windhoek, is one of Namibia’s top shopping destinations. This makes it the perfect place for Bathu’s first international store. The store features a curated collection of Bathu’s best-selling sneakers, including popular styles like the Khalanga, Ndofaya, and Journey 2.0. It also highlights the latest collections, all crafted with African excellence in mind.

Theo Baloyi, the Founder and CEO of Bathu, expressed his pride in the new store, saying, “This store is more than a physical space; it is a beacon of what is possible when African talent and determination come together. We are proud to bring Bathu to Namibia, a country rich in culture and vibrancy. Our Maerua Mall store is a bold step forward in our vision of becoming an internationally recognised African brand, one that reignites hope and inspires pride.”

Bathu’s growth and recognition
Bathu’s success has been remarkable. The brand was recently named the number one South African brand in the 14th annual Brand Africa 100 rankings. Bathu’s rapid rise is part of a growing trend of youth-founded South African brands gaining recognition, with other brands like MaXhosa Africa and Drip also earning top spots.

In addition to its international store opening, Bathu recently celebrated the launch of its 35th store at Menlyn Shopping Centre. This milestone comes alongside an exciting new partnership with the German brand Flowers for Society, marking an important chapter in Bathu’s global expansion.
