Transfer Ban! Sackings! Is There A Hunt Underway?

You know what’s interesting we are two weeks into September and my goodness so much has happened you would think we in the last week of September. The PSL has had so much going on, especially in the Naturena Camp some have been inevitable some eyebrows raising while we patiently waiting for an outcome from FIFA.

Kazier Chiefs have provided an update following their transfer ban appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Wednesday.

Amakhosi were banned from signing players for the next two transfer windows by FIFA in February 2020, after they were found guilty of illegally signing and registering Andriamirado ‘Dax’ Andrianarimanana (long name, right?!) in 2018.

They were given until 8 September to make representations and prove their innocence in the transfer saga involving Dax, and his former Madagascan club Fosa Juniors.

Amakhosi have now revealed that they are waiting for an outcome after their appeal case was heard by CAS.

It never rains but it POURS at Kazier Chiefs! Hours after the glamour boys sacked Head coach Ernst Middendorp, the Club followed that announcement with the sacking of assistant coach, Shaun Bartlett, with immediate effect.

Chiefs announced Bartlett’s sacking on Thursday morning.

The former Bafana Bafana striker had joined Chiefs on 10 December 2018, a couple of days after the club appointed Middendorp. Bartlett had joined Chiefs on a two-year contract.

It’s now a question of where to from here? The Hunt is underway for the top job in PSL.

According to Goal.com, former Bidvest Wits head coach Gavin Hunt says he is waiting for Kaizer Chiefs to contact him regarding the Amakhosi coaching job.

Not a bad man to consider for the role of Head Coach, Afterall Hunt is one of the most decorated South African coaches, he is a free agent after parting ways with Wits after the club’s top-flight status was sold to National First Division (NFD) outfit Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.

Gavin Hunt looks keen on taking the job, and he is not short of admirers as he has had offers from the PSL and overseas and that Orlando Pirates, at one point also made analyses about his availability. However, I’m confident Pirates will stick with the German Josef Zinnbauer, who led the team to a third-place finish in the league and they qualified for next seasons Caf Confederation Cup.

It’s no surprise that Hunt has been linked with the two biggest football clubs in the country as he has proved to be a winner over the years.

56- year old Gavin Hunt won three league titles in a row with SuperSport United between 2007-2010 (What a love affair) he became the first coach to do so in the PSL-era. However, Pitso Mosimane has since emulated that feat with abo’ Yellow with three successive league titles. 2018, 2019, 2020.

Let’s not forget Hunt leading Wits to their first-ever league title in 2016/17 season. Remarkable.

This is a developing story, and time will tell what the days or weeks will bring forth…. Stay tuned!
