The music industry and fans alike are mourning the loss of renowned rapper Riky Rick real name Rikhado Muziwendlovu Makhado, who tragically passed away on February 23, 2022, at the age of 34. The news was confirmed by his family, who expressed profound sadness at his untimely death. He is survived by his wife, his two children, his mother and his five siblings.
Prominent figures in the entertainment industry, leaders in public office, and grieving fans have been offering tributes to the late Riky. Celebrated for his rich musical legacy and impactful contributions to the culture, Riky’s influence in reshaping the creative landscape remains paramount. Alongside timeless hits like Boss Zonke, ‘Amantombazane’, and Sidlukotini, he was also revered as a fashion trendsetter.
Riky Makhado catapulted to fame with the release of Nafukwa in 2014, followed by a series of chart-topping singles and the platinum-certified debut album Family Values in 2015, recognized by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA).
Beyond his musical and acting triumphs, he ventured into the art business, co-founding Boyz N Buckz and establishing Cotton Club Records, which famously organized the hugely successful Cotton Fest.
