Practice respecting the people you spend 70% of your weekly time with; it really won’t require much effort.
A few courtesy tips:
- If a colleague has just arrived at work, wait for them to settle or even until they have their
morning coffee/tea before demanding something of them - Respect people’s lunch times. They’ve been working and use lunch to recoup. It’s more than
slightly annoying when they are mid-chew and you’re asking them what their sales target for the
month is - If you see 2 or more colleagues talking to each other about work, don’t interrupt. Wait your turn
to have your needs met or questions answered - Please don’t speak to someone when it’s clear they’re on the phone. There’s no way they will
prioritize you then, and it’s rather rude - In all of this, demand how people should treat you. Set your standard and enforce it…in the
corporate-friendly way, of course.
