Respect Goes A Long Way

Practice respecting the people you spend 70% of your weekly time with; it really won’t require much effort.
A few courtesy tips:

  1. If a colleague has just arrived at work, wait for them to settle or even until they have their
morning coffee/tea before demanding something of them
  2. Respect people’s lunch times. They’ve been working and use lunch to recoup. It’s more than
slightly annoying when they are mid-chew and you’re asking them what their sales target for the
    month is
  3. If you see 2 or more colleagues talking to each other about work, don’t interrupt. Wait your turn
to have your needs met or questions answered
  4. Please don’t speak to someone when it’s clear they’re on the phone. There’s no way they will
prioritize you then, and it’s rather rude
  5. In all of this, demand how people should treat you. Set your standard and enforce it…in the
    corporate-friendly way, of course.
