Ndivho Makhwanya Joins Metro FM

Ndivho Makhwanya, the former co-host of Capricorn FM’s afternoon drive show, has officially joined Metro FM. On Friday morning, hosts DJ Sabby and Kandice Kardash announced Makhwanya as the latest addition to the station on the Best Mornings breakfast show. She will be on Radioactive every Saturday and Sunday from 12 AM – 3 AM, that was previously hosted by Mantsoe Pout who has just returned to 947.

Makhwanya was born in the village of Manini in the Vhembe district, next to Thohoyandou in Limpopo, and began her radio career at a community radio station, Choice FM. She hosted The Driver Show on Choice FM between 2 PM – 6 PM weekdays, as well as the Vodacom Next Level Top 20 from 10 AM – to 2 PM on Saturdays.

The 25-year-old proved to be a bright talent through a presenter search initiative and was on-air for a couple of months on Capricorn FM before she announced her transition. She joined Capricorn FM this year as the afternoon drive show co-host, Capricorn Drive and the Capricorn Plug on Saturdays between 2 PM – 6 PM. Makhwanya had been hosting the Urban Hot 40 from 10 AM – 2 PM on Saturdays for the past five months before her departure.

In a statement on Friday, Metro FM said despite housing some of South Africa’s most talented and recognisable on-air presenters, the station is equally committed to identifying talent that is notable and set to impact the industry.

“Through its latest addition, the station will continue to position itself as South Africa’s number-one urban radio station, delivering fresh, compelling content and on-trend music.

“The station is confident that through her star quality, energy and dynamism, Ndivho will resonate with its listeners.”
