Itu Banda Says Goodbye To Capricorn FM After 10 Years

Itumeleng “Itu” Banda has resigned from Capricorn FM with immediate effect. The 32-year old hosted a lunchtime show, Capricorn Adventure, between 12 PM – 3 PM weekdays.

Banda joined the station in 2012 to host The Morning After 3 AM – 6 AM on Saturdays and Sundays. In 2017, she moved to primetime and was paired up with Dee Nkomo to host the weekday lunchtime show called The Urban Lunch Experience. Together with Dee Nkomo she moved to the afternoon drive show in 2020. She returned to the lunchtime slot in 2022, renamed the Capricorn Adventure, and hosted the show till her departure.

Limpopo Chronicle reports that Capricorn FM’s Programmes Manager Prudence Mabasa sent an official statement to the Capricorn FM staff informing them of Itu Banda’s departure. “We would like to inform you that Ms. Itumeleng Banda has resigned with immediate effect,” read the statement.

“We would like to thank her for all the years she has dedicated to the brand and wish her well in all her future endeavours.”

Speaking to Itu Banda, who confirmed that she had left the regional station. “So, yes I’ve left the station. Handed in my resignation on Monday,” she said. “This is due to reasons I cannot disclose at the moment. But for a progressive station, there is no progress for us as presenters,” she added.

“However this isn’t the end of my radio career, you will be hearing my voice on the radio again. I’ve learned a lot working for the brand Capricorn FM. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity it has given me to do something I love dearly and to engage the Limpopo people on a daily basis.” she concluded.

The station is yet to announce her replacement on the show.
