More Thrilling Drama On Abomama Season 2

After a thrilling first season that left viewers on the edge of their seats, Mzansi Magic’s hit drama series Abomama is back for a second season. This season, viewers can expect more turmoil, drama and suspense as Tshidi, Fumane, Mapule and Dora deal with the consequences of their actions.

Renowned choreographer, fitness and wellness coach and actress Khabonina Qubeka joins the cast to replace Khanyi Mbau, who played Tshidi in the first season. This is the second time Khabonina replaces Khanyi on a TV show. In 2006 she replaced Khanyi as Doobsie on Muvhango.

Other new additions this season include Isithembiso actress Nandi Mbatha, Isibaya actress Asavela Mngqithi and Isono actor Senzo Radebe. Furthermore, Busisiwe Mtshali replaces Nozuku Ncayiyane who currently leads the cast of Diepcity to play Luzuko.

Tshidi (played by Khabonina Qubeka) is the unhappy wife of a doctor who is dealing with infertility and an unstable marriage and is joined Fumane by (played by Joyce Skefu), Mapule (played by Nokuthula Ledwaba) and Dora (played by Unathi Guma) as the women of God who find themselves drawn into a world of organised crime. After they find a stash of stolen cash, they are forced to use their stokvel to launder money for the “real” owner of the stolen loot, Bonanza, played by Kenneth Nkosi.

This season, viewers can expect more thrilling drama as the women try separately to move on with their lives following the murder of Bonanza. But they are forced back together when a naked, young woman mysteriously arrives on the steps of Hope of Glory Church.

Mapule sees the appearance of the woman, who has amnesia, as an opportunity for them to find redemption for their past deeds, while Raki, played by Masechaba Moshoeshoe, is instantly doubtful of the woman. Mapule takes in the woman, who she names Amogelang, and nurses her back to health, but soon it becomes evident that there is more to her than meets the eye. Once again, their actions find them drawn back into the world they so desperately want to escape.

The producers have taken a group of women that many of us can identify with and put them in an impossible situation that will make us question our moral boundaries. As Africa’s most loved storyteller, we always try to treat viewers to compelling content that will resonate with their lived experiences in an informative, entertaining and educational way.
