Veteran actor Siyabonga Thwala is set to captivate audiences once again in a new Showmax original action series, Empini as Khaya Bhodoza. The 52-episode series is a high-stakes, action-packed drama set in the dangerous world of the private VIP security industry.
Thwala has three SAFTAs under his belt for his iconic roles as Mpiyakhe on Isibaya Isibaya (which also earned him a Royalty Soapie Award), Vusi Zwane on Scandal!, and Musa on Intersexions. He’s also had roles on eHostela, The River, The Republic, Muvhango, and M-Net’s Legacy as Msizi Zulu.
In Khaya Bhodoza, he plays a prominent businessman and political stalwart. Thwala promises to deliver a performance that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. “I’ve played many roles in my career, but I am particularly excited about my role in Empini as it will showcase the many facets of myself as a performer. This role has stretched me tremendously, mentally and physically,” says Thwala.
He further adds that Empini is not just another show, but a production that will showcase the high quality content local productions continue to offer.
“From the cast to the crew, each and every person on set has shown so much passion and drive in ensuring that Empini is viewed as a production of a high quality. It is a project that I pride myself on being a part of,” concludes Thwala.
