In response to user feedback, Instagram and Facebook are now offering enhanced control over public like counts. This feature, which has been in testing, is now available to everyone, allowing users to choose whether or not to display like counts on their posts and in their feeds.
Why hide like counts?
Testing has shown that hiding like counts can reduce pressure and anxiety for some users. However, because like counts are often used to gauge popularity and trends, the feature might not suit everyone. With this new option, users can tailor their experience according to their preferences.
How to hide like counts
Starting today, users can choose to hide like counts on all posts in their feed and on their own posts. To activate this feature:
1. Go to the Posts section in Settings.
2. Select the option to hide like counts on posts from others and your own.
This feature allows users to focus more on the content of posts rather than the number of likes.
You can hide like counts on others’ posts by visiting the new Posts section in Settings. This control applies to all the posts in your feed.
The option to hide like counts represents a significant shift in how users interact with Instagram and Facebook. The platform is committed to exploring new ways to give users more control and improve their overall experience.
