As the radio industry undergoes its annual lineup changes, Munghana Lonene FM, the Xitsonga SABC radio station, is making notable updates to its programmin which takes effect from the 6th of April . This year, the station is welcomes back Ike Ngobeni, Muvhango actor and seasoned presenter, to host a brand-new afternoon drive show, Khoma Ndlela!.
Ngobeni will be joined by Lind-diva Makhubele as co-host, with DJ Soulcrusher as the traffic reporter and producer. The show will also feature the multi-talented comedian Solly Makamu as a regular contributor every Thursday, promising fresh and engaging content for listeners.
Khensani Nyango will return to the 9 AM to 12 PM slot with a new revamped show, now named Swa Risima, previously known as Gingirikani. Chiechie Rikhotso will take over the public mandate slot from 8 PM to 10 PM, continuing to include the SABC Education Hour from 9 PM to 10 PM.
On Friday nights, Xitsonga Hip Hop pioneer Mchangani will kick off the weekend with Emanembenembeni ya Hip Hop, from 10 PM to 1 AM. Teen presenter Mpfuxelelo Makaringe will host back-to-back youth educational shows State Your Mind and Teen Zone on Saturdays from 12 PM to 1 PM. Mchangani will also present Nkatsakanyo from 1 PM to 3 PM. Meanwhile, Rhandzu Optimus will deliver the sports show Etimbaleni ta Mintlangu from 3 PM to 6 PM on both Saturdays and Sundays.
The station’s flagship music show, Xitsonga Top 10, will now be hosted by the seasoned presenter The Quintonizer on Saturday evenings. The popular house music show Ta Duma will continue with Rooitjie Tshukeleni, now from 10 PM to 1 AM in its new time slot. Tshukeleni will also host the student-focused Campus Connection on Sunday evenings from 10 PM to 1 AM.
DJ Brian and Connizer will remain at the helm of the Phaphama breakfast show, weekdays from 5 AM to 9 AM, with Xolani Wale Kenhuk as the traffic reporter and producer. Nyiko “Ras Nyiko” Sithole will continue with Ta Mintlangu, and N’wana N’wa Gee will close out the day with Gongomela.
Munghana Lonene FM is also enhancing its religious programming with the addition of two experienced contributors. Dr. Esrom Mathumbu will bring his Christian insights to the station, while traditional healer Dr. Mashele, known as “J Mashale-Mashale,” will offer his expertise in African tradition.
