South Africa’s Thato Mosehle flew the country’s flag high when she competed in the Miss Supranational pageant on Saturday. The medical doctor was crowned second runner-up at the international competition, with Miss Namibia, Chanique Rabe taking the title from Anntonia Porsild, Miss Thailand.
26-year-old Mosehle was crowned Miss Supranational South Africa 2020 at the Miss South Africa pageant last year. She represented South Africa against contestants from nearly 60 other countries in the competition and was one of the front runners throughout the build-up to the finale. Thato is the first person under the official Miss South Africa Organisation banner to compete at Miss Supranational.
Her national costume was designed by Sello Medupe, the owner of Scalo, inspired by an African warrior princess with elements of Mosehle’s Sotho culture and heritage incorporated. Daywear outfits came from Willet Designs Couture, Malondie, Sheriff Taylor, Ernst Schutz, and Juan William Aria. Her evening gowns were made by Kobus Rautenbach and Anel Botha.
The 12th edition of the Miss Supranational pageant was held in Nowy Sącz, Poland, The show was aired live on the Miss Supranational Facebook and YouTube channels.
