Shona Ferguson Has Passed Away

Born Aaron Arthur Ferguson on 30 April 1974, actor and producer known as Shona Ferguson has passed away at 47. A representative from the Ferguson Foundation, Conrad Mwanza, confirmed the news to News24 on Friday. The family also released a statement on social media.

The statement confirms Shona passed away at noon today. The statement also added that he died from Covid-19 related complications and not a heart operation as reported in the media. It further said they would not be indulging in further details around the death.

Together with his wife Connie Ferguson, he founded Ferguson Films, and they both starred in the production company’s M-Net first series, Rockville, in 2013. This was followed by other successful productions, such as The Throne and The Queen, in which Shona played the role of Jerry Maake. His latest appearance was on Rockville Season 5, which aired on Mzansi Magic in June 2021, where he took on the role of JB.

He was previously featured in several popular local TV series such as GenerationsMuvhango, Isidingo: The Need, Scandal! and The Wild. Recently, he and his wife Connie launched the Ferguson Foundation, an independent programme dedicated to supporting and empowering disadvantaged individuals in navigating the film industry.

In 2020, he made his Netflix debut, partnering with the streaming service on the six-part series, Kings Of Joburg. He has left an indelible mark on the South African television and production industry. He will be greatly missed.
