Nozipho Ntshangase reflects on her debut season on The Mommy Club

For 15 captivating weeks, The Mommy Club, a record-breaking Showmax Original, offered viewers an intimate glimpse into the lives of Jozi’s most influential mothers. Season 2 reunited beloved originals Hermajesty, Mrs Mops, Nunurai, and Ratile, while introducing newcomers Mrs Sande and Nozipho Ntshangase to the dynamic ensemble.

Among the standout figures of Season 2 was Nozipho Ntshangase, a devoted wife and mother to eight children, whose journey resonated deeply with audiences. Her courage and candidness captured hearts as she navigated personal challenges, including her husband’s controversial decision to seek a second wife after over a decade together—a decision she is not accepting of.

In her first interview since filming the reunion, Nozipho tells us about her first season of the show, her friendships with the ladies and everything in between.

“It was long hours, way more than I expected,” Nozipho admits candidly when asked about her initial experience on the show. However, amidst the demanding schedule, she found joy in the opportunity to connect with new faces and explore the diverse narratives of her fellow cast members. “I enjoyed the experience and the opportunity to meet the new ladies,” she reflects.

Watching herself on screen proved to be a journey of self-discovery for Nozipho. “There are many things that I learned about myself,” she shares , “but the one thing I realized while watching the show is that I have a lot of patience in me, way more than I thought I did.”

When asked about the source of her unwavering strength, Nozipho attributes it to her faith. “God has carried me,” she affirms. Her role as a mother to eight children adds another layer of determination. “When you know you have your children watching you, relying on you, all you can do is fight,” she explains. “Fight to stay above water every day. Trusting that you will get through the storms together.”

However, even as Nozipho celebrates her successes and personal development, regrets cast a shadow. She candidly expresses, “I regret not engaging more than I did – I did not fully immerse myself in most conversations and interactions.”

Despite any regrets, friendships blossomed during filming. Nozipho fondly recalls meeting Ms Manche during diary sessions, a bond that quickly flourished into a genuine friendship. Beyond Ms Manche, she shares connections with Ratile, Happy, Mrs Mops, Nunurai, and Mrs Sande, each relationship offering a unique perspective and support network. “I have different relationships with all the ladies,” she reflects, “but at the moment, I am a lot closer with Ms Manche.”
