Kaizer Chiefs announce new signings

As August begins, Kaizer Chiefs are making headlines with significant new additions to their squad, signaling their intent for the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season. The Glamour Boys have secured Uruguayan attacking midfielder Gaston Sirino on a two-year deal. Sirino, who has spent over six years in South Africa with Mamelodi Sundowns will join the squad at their Naturena base this week, integrating into the team’s preparation under Coach Nasreddine Nabi.

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr., expressed enthusiasm about Sirino’s arrival, highlighting his experience and skill as key assets for the team. “We have decided to add some experience in our team by bringing in Sirino. We know his quality and we believe he will help us this coming season and looking forward to him sharing his experience with our younger players,” Motaung Jr. stated.

“Gaston’s ability to unlock a tight defence with his guile and craft will add an extra dimension to the team’s creativity and his attributes fit with our idea of how we want to play,” Motaung Jr. adds.

In addition to Sirino, the Chiefs have also signed defender Bongani Sam from Orlando Pirates. Sam, a versatile left-back/winger, has penned a three-year contract with a one-year option. After a recent loan spell with Moroka Swallows, Sam returns to the top flight with a wealth of experience from his seven-year Premiership career.

Although currently sidelined with an injury, the Qqeberha-born player is expected to join the team’s training sessions soon.“We are really excited to have Bongani Sam in our fold,” says Amakhosi Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr. “Given his age, which is 26, he has amassed quite a bit of experience having played for several teams in the Premiership since he started his top-flight career seven years ago. We do wish him well and we know he will fit in as part of the Kaizer Chiefs Family.”
