Interviews are intimidating. The preparation for said interviews even more so. It’s that one instant where you find out if you’ve been paying attention to yourself at all.
Tips?
- First impressions definitely matter, so Be. On. Time. It seems obvious. Be punctual, ask for
water to shake off those initial nerves, and walk into that room with the firmest handshake ever - In an interview, be succinct. Answer only the question that’s been asked. Most of the times
there are set questions, and interviewers may ask follow-ups, but rather wait for those - You best know yourself. Think of what’s been said about you in a performance review. What
impact you have made in your current or previous roles and most importantly, what impact you
can make in the job - Always have questions for the interviewers at the end. This is a small way of showing how
interested you are in the broader company, and not just about getting a job. Ask about the
culture, the attrition rate, etc. Assess the company as much as they are assessing you.
Again, this is not a one-size-fits-all approach but testing these tips may just boost your surety
levels to a standard of greatness you didn’t think was possible 3 months ago.
