In a surprising development for viewers of Skeem Saam, veteran actress Florence Masebe is set to temporarily play the role of Meikie Maputla, taking over from Harriet Manamela. Manamela, who has portrayed Meikie since the soapie’s premiere on 13 October 2011, has unfortunately had to take an extended leave due to health reasons.
Florence Masebe, known for her stellar performances across various South African productions, will step into the iconic character of Meikie Maputla starting 15 May 2024. This change marks a significant moment in the soapie’s history as viewers prepare to see a new interpretation of the beloved character.
Harriet Manamela’s portrayal of Meikie Maputla has been a cornerstone of Skeem Saam for over a decade, capturing the hearts of viewers with her nuanced performance. Skeem Saam currently airs weeknights on SABC 1 at 6:30 PM and will move 7:30 PM starting from 4 March.
